Our #DesertChaletProject was a spec build designed for a developer, Arcadia Fortress. We were inspired by the matte black A-Frame roof line, which reminded us of a cabin, hence the ‘chalet.’ For this reason, we selected light natural wood finishes throughout the home, on the floors, walls, and ceilings, and many soft, textural, and organic finishes. We put a unique spin on it by nodding to some Art Deco and mid-century vibes with geometric shapes and lighting, such as the screenprinted tile from Portugal at the bar.
Throughout the home, you will find a ceiling-suspended vapor fireplace in the primary bedroom, ceramic lighting, custom millwork, asymmetry, and a play on contrast. A black and white agglomerate marble is the showpiece in the great room along the base of the fireplace. Kaitlyn staged this home with many curated vintage pieces from her travels, including the classic De Sede ‘Snake’ sectional in the great room.
