Back Concept Our client loved bright colors, especially blue, so we gave this space a whole new spirit. I was inspired by the pastel colors of Artist’s Palette in Death Valley National Park, which drove the color scheme throughout our Desert Palette Project.
We started with solving functionality, creating an open-concept layout for the living room, removing the soffit to maximize storage, and swapping the range and sink placement. The microwave and dishwasher are hidden on the front side of the island. We went with birch plywood cabinetry, giving this space a playful and industrial feel but the star of the show is the Ann Sacks backsplash and cylindrical hood. We based the color of the upper cabinetry on the hue of the backsplash, drawing your eye upward and outward, making the space feel larger. The mix of silhouettes of the pendant lights gives this space a refined yet quirky vibe.
