Concept
Tucked into the pines of Flagstaff, Arizona, The Forest Chalet is a modern alpine retreat designed to reflect its rugged surroundings while offering a refined, design-forward living experience. This custom home balances raw materiality with thoughtful architecture—bringing together the comfort of a mountain escape with bold, contemporary detailing.
The design draws from Nordic minimalism and elevated lodge aesthetics, featuring a muted palette of wood, stone, and steel. Soaring gable forms and expansive glazing frame views of the forest, blurring the boundary between indoors and out. Inside, the interiors are warm and grounded—anchored by plaster walls, textured oak cabinetry, and layered lighting that softens the sharp architectural lines.
Every element was considered through the lens of contrast: light and shadow, sleek and organic, refined and rustic. From the sculptural stairwell to the custom fireplaces and spa-like bathrooms, the Forest Chalet is a study in quiet drama—crafted for stillness, connection, and high-altitude living.
