Welcome to our The Prairie House Project, a 1960s home that we stripped down to its bare structure and thoughtfully rebuilt into a modern desert oasis. Drawing inspiration from the nearby Camelback Mountains and Frank Lloyd Wright’s architectural principles, we embraced earthy tones, organic forms, and a seamless connection to the surrounding landscape. Our goal was to preserve the home’s mid-century character while infusing it with contemporary comfort, durability, and warmth.
Inside, we chose unpolished limestone flooring for its natural, tactile quality that grounds the space, and custom terrazzo countertops to subtly echo the desert’s patterns and colors. Custom walnut cabinetry adds richness and warmth, complemented by modern matte black and brushed brass fixtures. Expansive windows frame sweeping desert views, filling the interiors with light and blurring the line between indoors and out. Every decision—from material selection to spatial flow—was made to honor the home’s architectural legacy while creating a serene, family-centered retreat deeply rooted in the desert.
