Prairie House

This project involved stripping the house down to its bare structure and rebuilding it with a fresh design. Originally constructed in the 1960s, the home was transformed into a warm space, seamlessly integrated with the surrounding desert landscape, earning the name “The Prairie House.”
Drawing inspiration from the nearby Camelback Mountains, we incorporated earthy tones and diverse textures into the interior. Our clients wanted to preserve the original 1960s architectural essence, so we sourced a variety of durable materials. For the flooring, we chose unpolished limestone, and for the kitchen countertops, we created a custom terrazzo. Organic shapes were used to create a playful environment, found in elements like custom walnut mirrors in the children’s bathroom that mimic the mountainscape, and blue-green cabinetry in the playroom.
Given the importance of family to our clients, we meticulously designed each room to meet their specific needs and preferences, ensuring that every space was functional, durable, and aesthetically pleasing.
